I’ve started rolling out some Top Lists (and quizzes) for Fortiche’s Arcane. And I must say, it’s been a pleasure! But now it’s time for another one, and as the title says, let’s rank the 5 most badass moments from Arcane: Episode 1!

5. Vi Gives Deckard A “Taste” & Starts A Fight
We’re starting off with a simple moment, in which Vi decks Deckard with a bag of their precious Piltovian loot! With just one swing of the bag, Vi starts a fight with Deckard’s crew, without any hesitation. If that’s not badass, then what is?
But it’s the way in which she offers Deckard a “taste” of the loot that makes this moment so much sweeter! Best of all, Vi indirectly gives Deckard a “taste” by smacking him across the face with the goodie bag. Thus, Vi decking Deckard is one of the most badass Arcane moments in episode 1.
4. Vander Refuses to Give Up His People
Vander’s loyalty to his people is both both endearing and admirable, but his quick response to Grayson is downright badass! Keep in mind, he’s not willing to give up anyone, which means even the “bad people” and the Underground “criminals”.
The Hound of the Underground wants to keep the peace with Piltover, and thus he struck a deal with them. Remember what Grayson said? “We had a deal, Vander. You keep your people off my streets, and I stay out of your business”. This means that Vander needs to cooperate with Piltover in-order to keep the peace, without Piltover’s direct involvement. Thus, Vander settles every and all conflicts so that the Enforcers have no reason to venture to the Underground.
But what happened? The heist changed everything. While Vi and his friends didn’t want this to happen, they are indirectly responsible for everything. Why? Without their little explosion, Vander would never be in this situation. But even with his back against the wall, he refuses to give up anyone… and I mean ANYONE. That’s badass!
3. Vi Silences Mylo With The “Shut-Up” Face
Not only does Vi’s “shut up” face top the list of the funniest moments in Arcane: Episode 1, but it also earns a 3rd spot on this list, of the most badass moments!
What’s the reasoning? Aside from the well-written dialogue, it’s great because of how Vi calls Mylo out for complaining and creating conflicts. Thus, she interrupts him from throwing the ball around, and literally silences him by showing him her “shut-up” face. So to put it simply, Vi’s attitude and personality are both badass and funny, making this scene all types of must-watch!
2. Deckard Pulls Out A Knife, Vi Shows No Fear
Following the brutal fight between Vi’s crew and Deckard’s crew, things get even more serious, as Deckard pulls out a knife. It’s a last resort, a pathetic attempt at salvaging “something” from “nothing”. So how does Violet respond? She instantly walks up to Deckard and says “wanna see how that ends?” while staring him straight in the eyes.
It’s a classic, isn’t it? The protagonist showing no signs of fear to the antagonist? Yeah, we’ve seen it before, but it’s always good. Thus, it makes the list with ease!
1. Enter Vander – Threatening Verne & Jules
Like father, like daughter, huh? Vander definitely had a hand in making Vi the badass individual she is today, as Vander himself is the definition of being badass. And I don’t say this lightly! In a single episode, Vander asserted himself right into our hearts, with plenty of moments, with this being one of them.
When Verne and Jules are trying to scam Huck, Vander casually inserts himself into the conflict. He grabs a stool, lights up his pipe and reminds them where they are: The Last Drop. Vander’s “the guy who pours the drinks”, and only moments later he forces their hand, by saying the line below.
Simply put, this is a 10/10 badass moment, as Vander does it all so casually, and his words carry so much weight. He’s the guy who pours the drinks, he’s the guy who runs The Last Drop, and he’s the de facto leader of Zaun. Thus, most people support him, and Vander protects them, by literally threatening to dismember or kill people. That’s Vander. That’s the Hound of the Underground.
On a side-note, Vi and Vander make up this entire list, you know? Vi takes 3 spots and Vander takes 2 spots. But the Hound of the Underground takes sits on top of this list of the most badass moments in Episode 1 of Arcane!
