If you like Jujutsu Kaisen and love quotes, just like I do, then please check out the Episode 1 and Episode 2 quotes lists as well. I’m sure you’ll enjoy ’em! 😉
“Kugisaki Nobara. Be happy, boys. I’m the one woman in your group.” – Nobara Kugisaki
What an incredibly sassy introduction! Do you know what? I absolutely love it! It’s about time we’ve got a little bit of chaotic energy in the group, a person who is as predictable as a lottery!
Sometimes the best quotes are the most simple ones, don’t you think? It’s not a special quote, but it holds comedic depth, while also giving insight into Nobara’s personality. It’s not like she is saying this to be mean, but she’s just being herself. She’s very confident and says what’s on her mind, even if it comes across weird, awkward or downright insulting! Just a few moments later, Yuji and Megumi find that out first hand! While she may be judgemental, she’s not afraid to be herself and say what’s on her mind. This quote encapsulates that perfectly.
“He looks like a potato. He’s definitely the type that ate his own boogers as a kid.” – Nobara Kugisaki
For the love of all the potatoes in the world, what type of a thought is this, Nobara? While it’s a funny thought, with a great delivery by the voice actress, I just can’t wrap my head around just how judgemental Nobara truly is! Sure, it could just be a defence mechanism. But it’s still a bit uncalled for, as Yuji just introduced himself in a really nice and joyful manner! Well I guess you could say that it’s one of the many reasons to like Nobara. She’s interesting, she’s confident and she’s ridiculously funny!
One thing is for certain, and it’s that Nobara Kugisaki is a very judgemental individual. While it is hard to know if she means to be, she definitely jumps to conclusions without much to go on. However, when you consider how narrow-minded country folk can be, it isn’tsurprising. While she hates most people in her town, and how they treated Saori, it’s obvious that she isn’t that much different herself. While I’m sure that she would disagree, her behavior shows us that she has an edge and judgemental behavior that’s often associated with country folk. People who are often secluded, and don’t meet various types of people, like big city folk do. Therefore, it’s a quote that holds some weight, if you’re willing to dig into it!
“And only a name here? I can’t stand high-and-mighty dudes. I bet he likes setting oil-slicked gulls on fire.” – Nobara Kugisaki
If what Nobara thought about Yuji was like getting hit with a paintball gun, what she thought about Megumi was like getting torched by a flamethrower! 🔥
Nobara, you can’t call Megumi “high-and-mighty” just because he gave you his name, without saying anything else! It’s a bit too harsh, isn’t it? Sure, you called him names in your head, and didn’t say anything disrespectful to him, but still! However, I must admit that Nobara isn’t way off the marker, as Megumi is definitely a bit “high-and-mighty”.
While I can understand thinking that Megumi is a bit full of himself for his poor presentation, it is absolutely out of line, yet funny, that Nobara thinks he’s the type of guy that enjoys “setting oil-slicked gulls on fire”. Jesus Christ! There’s no way Megumi deserves to be associated with tossing oil on seagulls and setting them ablaze! Holy moly, Roppongi and some sushi! That’s one of the harshest things said in Jujutsu Kaisen history… or well… she thought about saying it. But still! It’s harsh, and absolutely hilarious. I love it!
“You liar! You were toying with us country folk!” – Nobara Kugisaki
Gojo promised to take Yuji and Nobara, the “country folk”, to Roppongi. It goes without saying that Gojo was lying to them, in order to take them to a spot haunted by a rather strong curse. I guess that type of work takes priority, doesn’t it? Try and tell that to Nobara Kugisaki, who’s a complete fireball, fuming from her lungs, pointing fingers and yelling at Gojo Satoru. While he undoubtedly deserves it for lying, seeing Nobara’s hilarious response was just jaw-droppingly funny. It’s not only a good quote, but a great moment.
Perhaps some of you are wondering why Gojo, and then Nobara, refered to the two rookies as “country” kids? Well, Yuji is from Sendai, and Nobara is from a rural village somewhere in the Tohoku region. While Yuji’s exact hometown is unknown, Gojo says that both Yuji and Nobara are from the “countryside”. This happens a few seconds before Nobara’s outburst. Therefore, the newest addition to Jujutsu Tech is calling out Gojo in a hilarious way, making an indirect comparison of how city folk toy with country folk.
“Who does he think is responsible for the rice he gets to eat, huh?!” – Nobara Kugisaki
Imagine that you’re Nobara Kugisaki – It’s your first day in Tokyo. You’ve barely gotten to know Mr. Potato Head and Mr. High-And-Mighty, before Mr. Blue-eyed, white-haired, devil wants you to fight a beefy CURSE! Instead of eating BEEF in Roppongi, you have to excorcise a curse? And it doesn’t stop! Mr. blindfold himself teases you for being from the countryside! In all honesty, doesn’t he know where his beloved rice comes from? It doesn’t magically appear, even if he’d like to think so!
Whoah! Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, let me break it down. If there’s one thing I like about this quote, aside from Nobara turning into a demon, is how she takes ownership of the rice that big city folk eat, as if to say that Gojo is oblivious to where it comes from. While it is obvious that Gojo knows the source of rice, it’s funny to see Nobara point to the rice, when Gojo “was toying” with Nobara. It’s not like Gojo was trying to be mean, but just wanted to see what Nobara was made of, by exorcising a curse. It’s that simple. But I love it how this was just blow out of proportion in the most cometic way imaginable!
“The issue isn’t the cemetery itself. It’s the fact that people associate cemeteries with fear.” – Megumi Fushiguro
Fear is a construct based on belief, perspective, opinion and understanding. If you lack belief, have a bad perspective, the wrong opinion, or don’t understand something, you could fear it. While fear is obviously based in emotions, guided by mentality, it’s often reflected on to other things – such as a cemetery.
Megumi is saying that a cemetery doesn’t create curses itself, but that people associating the cemetery with fear is what leads to curse appearing. In turn, the cemetry is not to blame. But what makes it such a noteworthy quote is how valuable it is for us as viewers. It gives us some much-needed insight into curses and how they work. With that being said, I had to include it on my list of the best Jujutsu Kaisen quotes from episode 3!
“He swallowed a special-grade cursed object?! Gross! Unbelievable! That’s so unsanitary and disgusting! No way, no way, no way, no way!” – Nobara Kugisaki
When Megumi reveals to Nobara that Mr. Potato Head has eaten Sukuna’s finger, she strikes a pose, hands crossed, finding the entire ordeal disgusting! While it’s an expected response, it’s truly funny to see Nobara squirm away, shouting out exactly how much she disagrees with the act. It’s surprisingly funny, well-animated, with a quirky pattern to the quote. In turn, I find it amusing, and I think it’s one of the moments that solidifed Nobara as one of the most funny characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. That’s why it’s on my list of the 16 best Jujutsu Kaisen quotes from Episode 3!
“Your emotions have been all over the place today!” – Yuji itadori
There’s the hammer and the head of the nail getting cozy! When Nobara delivers that swift kick to Yuji at the bottom of the stairs, oh boy, it’s like fireworks of frustration. Yuji, bless his heart, might as well have stepped on a landmine with his ‘mind your surroundings’ comment. And the truth of it? Yuji was spot on, and deep down, Nobara most likely agrees. After all, the day isn’t going exactly how she wanted – and it’s her first day in Tokyo!
Imagine, it’s her first time in the big, bright city of Tokyo, she’s barely exchanged two words with her Mr. Potato Head (Yuji) and Mr. High-and-Mighty (Megumi) —who are nothing short of weird—and bam! Lied to about a flashy trip to Roppongi, only to be greeted by a curse. Plus, she’s got to tango with a greenhorn she’d rather throw nails at, rather than chit-chat with. Talk about an ‘I-did-not-sign-up-for-this’ kind of day!
“This is why girls don’t like you.” – Nobara Kugisaki
Oh, no you didn’t?! You didn’t just go… THERE?! Nobara! Yuji might be Mr. Potato Head, but that doesn’t mean that you’ve got to hit him where it hurts! And I’m not talking about Yuji’s stomach, which you kicked, but his feelings! I mean, someone has to look out for the boy. He has been through enough, and we’re just 3 episodes in!
This has got to be one of the funniest moments in all of Jujutsu Kaisen. While I might be alone on this one, I just love it how random it is – everything from the kick to the stomach to the line about girls not liking Yuji Itadori. I mean, Nobara literally kicks Yuji in the gut, sending him off the stairs like a whirlwind, and she follows it up by saying that girls don’t like him. I mean, it’s just so damn random, but Nobara accidentally hits the nail on the head of a topic that they’ve never discussed before. If that’s not funny, I don’t know what is!
“How did you know they [girls] don’t like me?! Are you even popular enough to talk? Bitch.” – Yuji itadori
Yuji’s immediate response to Nobara’s insult was a rather surprising reveal, that girls don’t like him. It’s the reason Yuji was so shocked, as if she cracked the code on the most secure chest in the world, without knowing the code! The awkward expression, combined with the screechy uncomfortable voice, made this easily of the best 16 quotes of Jujutsu Kaisen: Episode 3.
What makes this quote very interesting is how Yuji asks if Nobara is even “popular enough to talk?” In turn, he’s asking a rhetorical question to Nobara, saying that if she’s saying things like that to him, is she even that popular with the boys to talk about it? Honestly, it’s a really legitimate question, but it’s rhetorical. I mean, Nobara didn’t hear it, so it doesn’t matter. It’s also the reason Yuji was brave enough to call her the B word. If she’d be standing in front of him, there’s no way in hell that he utters those words!
“Curses are born from human minds. So their strength and numbers grow in proportion to the population.” – Gojo Satoru
This quote is a straight-forward explanation as to why larger cities have more curses, and how smaller areas, such as a countryside, have fewer. In turn, the larger the population of a region, the more dangerous the curses are – more of them as well. While it’s not necessarily an special quote, it’s informative and very well structured by our white-haired, blue-eyed, devil. Thus, I’d be a fool not to include it, as it’s still a solid quote from episode 3.
“I guess it’s true that kids don’t warm up to beautiful women.” – Nobara Kugisaki
Oh Nobara, you’ve got to be kidding me?! Do you really think that kid’s quaking in their shoes ’cause you’re a pretty girl? Nah, I reckon there’s another boogeyman spooking him. But don’t get me wrong – you’re beautiful, Nobara. So let’s not turn me into a pin cushion with your nail-tossing skills, alright? Much appreciated!
This is telling, isn’t it? Nobara might’ve jokingly said this, but it’s obvious that she didn’t know about the curse hiding in the wall next to the boy. Therefore, I’m confident in saying that what she said here was truthful in her mind. In fact, she believed, that the kid was shy to come forth because she was a beautiful woman. This tells us that Nobara genuinelly thinks of herself as a pretty girl, with enough confidence to raise shake the foundation of Earth. In all honesty, I think that Nobara could Gojo a run for his money when it comes to self-belief and confidence!
“If I die, the child dies, too. But if the child dies, I won’t die. Logically speaking, it’s better if I survive, at least!” – Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara’s got herself into a real pickle—a wicked mannequin has thrown her a curveball that’s more twisted than a pretzel at a yoga class. It’s a dilemma with a dash of doom: Nobara can either play the hero and take a permanent nap for the sake of the kiddo, or she can keep her own heart ticking but with a side order of lifelong guilt. It’s enough to turn her orange head into a spinning top!
As Nobara chews over this brain-busting riddle, she wonders about the “what ifs.” If she takes one for the team and calls it quits, the little dude’s chances of survival drop faster than a hot potato. Seems the curse has no exit plan for the boy without Nobara in the picture. On the flip side, if the child takes a bow, Nobara gets to stick around—she’ll be free to kick some cursed spirit butt and rid the world of one less spooky mannequin. Who knew defeating evil could come with such a confusing instruction manual?
“I hate the countryside!” – Nobara Kugisaki
It’s safe to say that our hammer-wielding, nail-tossing, Nobara Kugisaki has had enough of the countryside! Here, she flat out says that she hates it with proper conviction and confidence. It isn’t hard to understand why, considering how Saori’s family was driven out of her village, and how she has always had big city aspirations. It’s like she felt thrown out of her community the same time they got rid of Saori’s family. In turn, this is a hatred that’s been growing for a long time, and Nobara isn’t afraid to tell it how it is! God bless her for it!
“If I had stayed in that village, I’d be as good as dead.” – Nobara Kugisaki
The heartbreaking story of Saori is what made Nobara hate her own village, and despise the people in it. It’s an incident that showed her a different side to “her people”. This resentment has grown over the years to proper hatred, and a feeling of seclusion, as she doesn’t feel like she’s a part of that “group” anymore. After all, even Nobara had big city dreams even as a lil’ child. In turn, seeing everybody turn on Saori because of fear and closed-mindedness, made Nobara realize that she isn’t welcomed either. While that might not be the case, it’s how she feels about it.
The most harrowing thing is that Nobara hints at suicide when she says that she’d be “as good as dead”. During the flashback to when she was young, seeind what happened to Saori, we get a 1-second shot of a destroyed mannequin by the side of the road. This image comes together with this quote from Nobara. It leads me to believe that if she would’ve stayed in the village, it would’ve had a gruesome conclusion. When you consider how little we know about Nobara’s past, it’s safe to say that this might very well be true, as she might’ve struggled more than we know.
“I’m grateful to you, too. There wouldn’t have been a bright future if I had died or I had been the only one to survive. Thanks!” – Nobara Kugisaki
Nobara Kugisaki actually has a heart. It’s there, but she rarely shows warmth or affection. It’s a defense mechanism to protect herself on an emotional level, knowing full-well what would happen if she’d let loose. It probably wouldn’t be pretty, right? Considering how she’s always on the edge to begin with, the least she can do is protect what little love she has left for other people and the world. In turn, it’s a quote that shows us that Nobara is complex. A fascinating character with multiple layers, and what hides beneath the tough and thorny exterior is a cute girl who deeply cares for others.
