Smite is an entertaining video game, with various gods and mythical figures to get you hooked for hundreds, maybe even thousands, of hours! Whether it’s Baba Yaga or Atlas, I’m sure you’ll find someone who pulls you in, and makes you want to buy a couple of cool skins. Speaking of Atlas, he’s the mythical being I’ll be focusing on today, pillaging through his closet to see what pieces of clothing he looks the most fabulous in! With that said, please join me as I list the top 5 best Atlas skins in Smite!
Atlas is based on the mythological being with the same name in Greek mythology. This literal Titan is condemned to hold up the heavens for all time, and his story is stuff of fairytales and jaw-dropping legends.
5. Diamond Atlas
Sure, it’s a surprising pick, but can you really deny how well the color scheme fits Atlas? While the silver color makes the outfit look a bit plastic, it does look great when combined with the vibrant blue. It’s something that makes the outfit truly pop, and makes Atlas look like a world beater!
While I do enjoy the vibrant blue in the hair and gauntlets, I’m not a big fan of the dark blue on the calf-guards. In all honesty, it’s the worst part of the entire skin. Together with ugly feet, the lower part of Atlas’s body is just downright mediocre.
While I like the hair and beard color, with the chest piece looking good, it’s cheapened by the nuance of silver color that they chose. At a quick glance it’s fine. But the longer you look at it, the more problematic it becomes, and more plastic it looks. Perhaps a more darker silver tone would’ve been better? Personally I do believe so!
Overall the Diamond Atlas skin is the best of the worst in my humble opinion. It’s striking and stands out, but when you look too close you find numerous flaws and lackluster decisions. In turn, I’m placing it 5th on my list of the 5 best Atlas skins in Smite!
4. Solar Vanguard
If you’re looking for an imposing Atlas skin, that’lls make you feel otherwordly, with a robotic and intergalactic sci-fi feel to it, the Solar Vanguard skin is what you’re looking for!
When it doubt, create a simplistic, yet well-designed, futuristic skin, am I right? It usually does work, and in this case, it works as well. While the Solar Vanguard skin isn’t anything special, it does have a striking look, with a cool esthetic, amplified by the blue light and the structure of the helmet. In fact, I’d say that the upper body is the highlight of the entire piece, as it’s really well put together, with the left pauldron being the most important feature. It gives the skin a bit of size, while being practical lore-wise as well.
While I’ll happily praise the upper body, it’s definitely a bit bulky and clunky. It’s very heavy. It isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the gauntlets are almost a bit “fat”, if you know what I mean? If only the metal would’ve had some texture or depth, it would’ve fixed the problem. If not, an then just slim down the armor altogether. That would’ve worked.
Now we get to the lower body design, which is questionable indeed. While I like it, it does not fit the upper body in any way, shape or form. It’s like two different skins were sown together by the waist. While I’m fully aware that the metallic armor is placed on top of the black and gold cloth underneath, it just doesn’t work without more detail or proper fitting. If only the upper body and lower body would share more of each others color schemes. It would have fixed the issue immediately.
Lastly, I want to add, the small bags/pouches on his waist are really ugly.
3. Corroded Colossus
The Corroded Colossus looks like something out of the pits of Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls, as it just looks otherwordly, unearthly, and downright sinister. It’s the purple glow that elevates that feeling by a thousand, and if it would’ve been a red glow, it wouldn’t have been as scary. Not sure why, but I just really like how the purple color rips through various cracks and small crevices, making the skin looks like it has imploded from within. It’s eyecatching in the most terrifying way imaginable.
The best creative decision, aside from the purple light and where it shines through, are all the sharp angles this skin has. I’m talking about the pauldron, greaves, arm guards and the waist section. It’s the sharpness of the metal that adds another layer to this scary suit of armor, that is amplified by the great color scheme and layered design.
There’s nothing negative to say about this skin. I could’ve easily swapped this and Catlas, but I feel like the Catlas skin’s overall model is just superior. It’s the teeny-tiny details, you know? It isn’t a big gap between the 3rd and 2nd spots on my list of the top 5 Atlas skins in Smite!
2. Catlas
I’ll make this one as short and sweet as possible, okay? When it comes to Catlas, I’ve only got a handful of positive remarks, without any negative things to say. It’s a remarkable Atlas skin with eyecatching features here and there, with the color scheme being the obvious highlight. With the bells on the ankles, hands and body, we’ve got a really fun and “thorough” skin. I’m saying that it’s well thought out, and the design team went all in on this one, without being afraid of looking stupid. And it paid off, as the Catlas skin is amazing!
If you’d like to hear a few more comments, let me just bring some attention to the shoulder piece on the left arm and the humorous ball of yarns. It’s these two things that take the cake in my book as being the best touches to an already well-designed skin.
If the Koi fish and a cat’s favorite toy doesn’t do anything for you, then feast your eyes on the fur detail, hands and feet of Catlas. This complete remake of the base skin is astonishing and truly worth all the respect in the world. And in turn, it’s one of the best top 5 Atlas skins in all of Smite!
1. Karn
Before I delve into the design itself, let’s talk about what this skin is based on, as the Karn skin is identical to the Karn it’s based on. If you’ve played Magic: The Gathering, then you’ve heard about Karn, the Father of Machines, who’s capable of controlling all give colors of mana. This time-travelling silver golem is the basis for the Karn skin, and what a great idea it was to base it off of one of the most badass looking characters in Magic: The Gathering!
It’s a toss-up between Catlas and Karn, but when you’re playing as Atlas, the being who holds up heaven/sky, there’s no skin that makes you feel like a true titan than the intimidating Karn skin!
The Karn Skin Is Perfect – 10/10!
This eyecatching, jaw-dropping, cohesive design that brings Karn into Smite as an Atlas skin is applause worthy. It’s spectacular from top to bottom, without any negatives whatsoever. But I will gladly explain myself further. You see, this skin is cohesive, with every piece of the puzzle working perfectly with the other. In turn, it doesn’t even look or feel like Atlas, but a different being altogheter. That’s what a new skin is supposed to feel like – a transformation into a new interesting look and feel that doesn’t resemble the base design. While the move-set is all the same, the feeling has changed and the appearance helps amplify the juggernaut moves that Atlas has in Smite.
Karn looks like a sculpture chiseled out of silver, with an armor-like body, that truly resembles a mighty golem. With a pair of soul-snatching eyes, attention-grabbing blue markings and red cloth worthy of a mage, the silver colem skin comes to life in a powerful way. In addition, with the nuanced color scheme, the Karn skin looks like it was handled with love and care. Thus, I am more than happy to crown it the king of my list of the top 5 best Atlas skins in Smite!
