The Harry Potter movies had absolutely fantastic music, and so does the Hogwarts Legacy. It’s a vital piece of the puzzle, as without the excellent core-shaking melodies, the magic wouldn’t be as magical. Therefore, I want to shine a spotlight on the music in Hogwarts Legacy, and pay respect to the composers. I’m talking about the super-talented lead composer Chuck E. Myers, as well as J Scott Rakozy and Peter Murray. So, without further ado, let’s get into the list, shall we? I give you my list of the top 10 best Hogwarts Legacy songs!
Everybody, run through the halls of Hogwarts and grab yourself a broom. I’ll meet you at our favorite stop, Hogsmeade!
10. The Halls of Hogwarts
These melodies make me want to play Hogwarts Legacy, all over again. It’s not just about the magical feeling and the wonderous elements of the music, but how light and pretty it sounds. There’s a feeling of happiness and joy that makes me feel warm inside, as if I’m being hugged by the song itself. I can hardly explain it, but The Halls of Hogwarts takes me back to the game in my head, and it’s a wonderful feeling.
9. Everybody Grab A Broom
The way this song soares through the skies at the 3:14 mark is simply magical. It gives you the feeling of flying through the sky in magnificent fashion, and it’s absolutely lovely. Just sit back and relax. Let your ears do the job, and enjoy the magnificent melodies of this track!
8. All Roads Lead to Hogsmeade
The cheerful instruments make me feel alive, and the welcoming red carpet has been thrown down in front of me! There, I can see Brood and Peck! Oh, but we have to go to Gladrags first to get some robes, don’t we!? Oh, I’m getting lost! So many young witches and wizards! So many fun shops and new experiences! Whoaaah, I’m getting dizzy! Wait, where am I again? Well, I’m in Hogsmeade, alongside other first-years, getting my stuff for Hogwarts!
7. Guardians Awaken
The world is crumbling, and the weight of it is all on your shoulders. How will you act? Will you fight back against the Guardians that have been placed there to protect ancient secrets or will you run and let the secrets fall into the hands of Ranrok? Surely you fight, my little wizard and witch! There’s no chance you can let valuable ancient magic fall into the hands of a murderer. So fight, and use this song as a fuel – the way it was intended to be consumed!
6. Ranrok’s Rage
Ranrok’s fury is brought to life with this song, Ranrok’s Rage. It is jaw-droppingly “large”, and it makes you feel like you’re face-to-face with a horror movie villain. While Ranrok’s not Jason or Michael Myers, he’s far worse, as he’s willing to kill so many all for his personal egotistical gains. And I must say, that this song puts a great melody to his name and his unending anger. Therefore, I suggest giving it a proper listen. It’s absolutely epic, and downright horrifying.
5. Aire on the Side of Love
Imagine walking down the aisle with this song softly playing in the background? Isn’t it just an unimaginably enchanting wedding melody? It feels lovely, so touching, and also warm. There is an underlying sense of understanding and comradery, that also adds another layer to it. So it’s a track that gives us something that no other song does; love! In turn, I genuinelly love this track as well, as it’s special. It stands out in the best way imaginable!
4. The Escape
Can you see it? Can’t you just feel it? The fresh air, and the soft wind that ripples through your robe, as the world is beneath your feet, as you soar through the sky on your Hippogriff. That’s exactly what I see, and how I feel, when listening to this masterpiece!
The orchestral sound makes The Escape feel so mighty and epic, as if you’re experiencing the most amazing thing in the world. In fairness, you are! After all, the song plays when you and Natsai Onai escape on the back of Hippogriffs, and fly back to Hogwarts. It’s a heartwarming scene that is made memorable because of this song, as it adds to much to the event. Thus, I have to have it high on my list of the 10 best songs in Hogwarts Legacy list!
3. Niamh’s Lullaby
Niamh’s Lullaby is like hearing the sirens of the ocean singing a haunting melody that is both soothing and enchanting. It’s not surprising that it feels that way. The name Niamh isn’t only referring to Niamh Fitzgerald, but also the daughter of the God of the Sea in Irish mythology. Therefore, it’s a name that has depth, in the literal sense as well, and that’s special!
What I truly respect about Niamh’s Lullaby is how it encorporates the singing of Merpeople as a way to create a very magical atmosphere. It’s a track that makes me feel like I’m underwater, while floating in the skies above. It’s an extraordinary feeling that is tied to Niamh’s Lullaby.
2. Forbidden Forest Waltz
Where do I even begin with the Forbidden Forest Waltz? Firstly, it truly feels like an actual song that somebody could’ve created in the world of Hogwarts Legacy, and Harry Potter. Better yet, it’s a song that works in other medieval-style action adventure games, such as Skyrim and The Witcher. Secondly, I have to say that this song changes the way I feel instantly. It’s like a chain reaction caused by the raw and real instruments, that combine greatly in this enthralling and magical track. Thirdly, it’s a song that works on its own. If you like this style of music, you can listen to it, irregardless of whether or not you’re a gamer. In turn, it’s versatile as well.
My list of the top 10 best Hogwarts Legacy songs wouldn’t be complete without the Forbidden Forest Waltz. It’s one of the most game defining, soulful and engaging songs of Hogwarts. So, I am definitely proud to rank it 2nd on my list!
1. Overture to the Unwritten
Overture to the Unwritten has everything! It has the youthful undertones, with the excitement and energy of first-year student, and all of it is elevated by the epic orchestral sounds! It’s as if it’s a compilation song of all the other songs on the soundtrack. Almost acting as a sponge of melodies, drawing in the best strings and keys of the excellent tracks that made Hogwarts an unforgettable place! It’s a game that is definitely elevated by its music, and I think that this is the best song in it!
Maybe it’s my love and passion for Harry Potter, but I honestly feel like this song encapsulates the magic, charm and adventure of the film franchise. It even elevates it to some extent, but it still remains respectful to the original score, composed by John Williams. Therefore I think it’s such a great homage to utilize similar melodies, while still being creative enough to make it its own thing. And that’s exactly what we have here with Overture to the Unwritten. It’s the song that immediately transports me back to Hogwarts Legacy, and Harry Potter.
