5. Jogo
If this list was based on the manga, it would look mighty different! But it’s not. It’s based on the 24-episode anime, and thus, Jogo lands at the fifth spot for being defeated in humiliating fashion. Sure, it was at the hand of Gojo, but it was his only formidable opponent. While we’re all impressed by how he torched people in a cafeteria, he was still just killing innocent humans who couldn’t fight back. In all honesty, it’s a “bad guy” trope that doesn’t prove much. I mean, without much to go on, Jogo cannot rank higher, as he sadly didn’t have much to offer. But, his badass battle with Gojo is enough to earn him a spot on my list!
4. Finger Bearers
Ryomen Sukuna’s Finger Bearers are quite disturbing, aren’t they? With the sinister smiling, the disturbing laughter, and the sadistic playfulness, the Finger Bearers have earned their stripes as memorable villains. But, there’s more to them than visual design and behavioral complexity. The Finger Bearers are actually formidable opponents. They’ve proven to be a problem for some, and a mere nuisance for others, but they are undoubtedly Special Grade curses. I mean, what do you expect? They’re cursed spirits that evolved into special grades after consuming one of Sukuna’s finger! Therefore, the Finger Bearers are easily among the best Jujutsu Kaisen villains.
3. Hanami
Everything from Hanami’s design to voice acting is perfect, as he’s the representation of nature and its destructive wrath. Thus, it’s the execution of the concept that makes Hanami stand out! However, he’s more than just a “great concept”, and he’s proven his worth and value as a great villain. Let’s not forget about what he did at Tokyo Jujutsu High, alright? Hanami’s fight against Yuji and Todo is already considered legendary, and his chase scene leading up to it was equally captivating. In turn, I’d consider Hanami among the pillars of JJK. I simply mean, Hanami made the anime better, because some of the best moments from the anime involve him. Therefore, I should simply say that he’s earned his spot and should rank in the top 3 for everybody!
2. Ryomen Sukuna
Ryomen Sukuna’s story has just started, and he’s quickly becoming the best villain of the show. Duh, right? I mean, he’s the primary antagonist! However, I’m just referring to the anime, and he’s already humiliated Megumi Fushiguro, and annihilated a Finger Bearer. While sitting on his corpse throne, he put Mahito in his place, defeating him with one flick of the wrist. But, this is not the main reason he ranks high! Ryomen Sukuna’s a great villain for his fantastic dialogue, cocky, yet likeable, behavior, and the internal battle with Yuji Itadori. These are the things that make us like him as a villain, voiced so elequently by Junichi Suwabe.
The reason Ryomen Sukuna doesn’t rank higher is because he’s an unwilling anti-hero. I mean, think about it. He’s often forced to defeat curses whether he likes it or not. In addition, he’s a villain that people actually love, and don’t hate. Thus, I can’t place him any higher, as Mahito was undoubtedly the best villain of Jujutsu Kaisen!
1. Mahito
In all honesty, I feel like Mahito is clearly the best Jujutsu Kaisen villain! He’s the character who we love to hate, and despise for his disturbing actions. I mean, he’s the epitome of ruthlessness and manipulation, being a sickening villain that all of us wanted to taste defeat! While he does in-fact “lose”, he’s never killed, and his very existence bothers me. But, that’s what makes him such a great villain, and his feud with Yuji Itadori is downright intense, considering what Mahito did to Junpei. In turn, there’s actual bad blood between the two, making for some great dialogue, and some badass fight scenes!
In addition, Mahito’s childish behavior, and “learning-as-he-goes” nature, is among the reasons he works as a villain. He’s not like Sukuna or Geto who have all the answers, and thus, he’s on a journey, learning and improving. In turn, he comes across very human, while being a curse. This isn’t the case with Jogo or Hanami, who seem more monstrous, and taste defeat because of their cocky behavior. Mahito, on the other hand, admits defeat and wants to learn. He wants to get stronger, and understands human behavior better than anyone else. In turn, I’d say that he works pretty much perfectly as a villain.
Ryomen Sukuna may be more badass and cool, but Mahito is the villain we genuinelly hate and despise, making him a better “bad guy”. While he’s obviously an inferior character, Mahito still nails the role of the villain better than Sukuna in the first season. In turn, I see no other result possible, and thus, I crown Mahito as the best of the best Jujutsu Kaisen villains!
