Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury was announced on September 15, 2021. Sunrise revealed this TV series at the Dai 2-kai Gundam Conference, and it made Gundam fans go wild. I should know, as I’m one of them. While my personal opinion may differ from yours, I’m simply creating this opinion piece to give you my take! Thus, I’ll be covering what we know so far, but I’ll also give you my predictions for Gundam: The Witch From Mercury. So enjoy!

Title: Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury

Format: Television Series.

Direction: “We are aiming to create a work that even young generations will support.” – Koji Fujiwara, by ANN

Release Date: 2022

Summary: This is all the information we have on October 15, 2021. Thus, there’s not much to discuss or explain. But there’s plenty to predict, with this amount of information. So scoll down for what I believe we’ll be getting in 2022.

My Predictions for Gundam: The Witch From Mercury

What Significance Does The Title Hold? I believe the “witch” refers to a woman, and thus, I think we’ll be getting our first female-led Gundam TV show. It’s not far-fetched in the slightest, unless the “witch” refers to a damsel in distress, a villainess or an object. But that would be far too predictable in 2022, so I’m hoping for a female-led Gundam show!

Mercury? Could Mercury be referring to the planet in our solar system? If that’s the case, does it mean that the Gundam universe in the show is centered around the current world we live in? While it’s merely a theory, I believe this anime TV series will be more grounded in reality than many others. I also think they will be adapting a modern approach, including our solar system in the universe, rather than creating a new “era”.

How Many Episodes Will the TV Series Be? Back in the day, most anime were around 50 episodes long, and Gundam anime were of no exception. From the original Gundam TV anime to Gundam AGE, they’ve all been around 50 episodes per season. But most recent Gundam shows have either been around 25 episodes a season or they’ve split a 50 episode anime in two. Thus, I’m talking about Reconguista In G and Iron-Blooded Orphans. This leads me to believe that the Gundam: The Witch From Mercury anime will be a 25-episode TV show. But I do believe that it’ll have a second season, and accumulate around 50 episode altogether.

When Will It Release? Giving a release year gives us very little, so there’s not much to go on. However, the Nu Gundam statue in Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport will be unveiled in spring. Not only that, but the 9-part Iron-Blooded Orphans special will also premiere in spring, 2022. Does it mean that Gundam: The Witch From Mercury will premiere in spring as well? It’s very likely, but I’m guessing it’ll release in October, 2022. In-fact, 7 of the main Gundam TV anime have premiered in the month of October, so it’s very likely. But a few have premiered in April. So it’s either April or October. What do you think?

In Conclusion?

Sunrise’s Gundam: The Witch From Mercury will be a female-led, 25-episode TV show, that’ll hit our TV screens in October, 2022.

Now I wonder, what do you think? So what are your predictions about Gundam: The Witch From Mercury?
