Tieria could refer to the word “terra“, which means “earth”. It’s a good fit, as Tieria was created by a human from planet Earth. In case you’re wondering – Aeolia Schenberg created Veda, and Veda created Tieria Erde. In turn, this connection works. But that’s not all, as Tieria Erde’s task is to protect the innocent people of Earth as a Gundam Meister. Ironically, Tieria hates planet Earth and its gravity, and prefers to be in space, something he has openly stated.

But it makes logical sense. What I mean is that for a long time we don’t know if Tieria is male or female; it turns out he’s neither. He is AI. Therefore, the name Erde could be a play on what he’s not, rather than what he is, and his obligation to protect that which he is not a part of. In turn, the word “erde” and it’s meaning makes sense if you break it down.

Tieria Erde experiences a form of “spiritual awakening” once he realizes that his stubborn and unkind ways were not the correct way to move himself or humanity forward. He looked within himself to find inner peace and acceptance, so that he could live with himself after the death of Neil Dylandy. But that’s not all. In fact, I’d say that the biggest “spiritual awakening” Tieria had was when he wanted to become human, and sought for his own humanity. He re-wrote his moral code, changed his ways and became a person worth looking up to. But how did he do all of it? Through “enlightenment”.
“Humanitarianism” is literally about reducing suffering and promoting human welfare. That is exactly what Celestial Being, and the Gundam Meisters, are doing with their interventions. It’s not hard to see that their goal is to remove war and conflict, so that people may live in peace. If there’s one person in Celestial Being that’s outspoken about this aspect, it’s Tieria Erde. He is willing to do whatever it takes to complete a mission, with the end goal in focus. Even when there’s a spanner thrown in the works and Veda “changes”, he makes changes personally to insure the well-being of humanity.
When it comes to success, it’s obviously something we can attach to Celestial Being’s mission and it’s completion at the end of Gundam 00: A Wakening of the Trailblazer. In the end, all of their hard work was worth it. They finished their task and succeeded in bringing some sort of peace to Earth.
The “financial success” and “manifesting wealth” mean nothing to Tieria. There’s no red thread to follow here.
Tieria Erde Name Analysis: Conclusion
Tieria Erde’s name can very likely mean “Earth Earth”. Both “terra” and “erde” mean earth, so it’s hard to believe that it’s a coincidence. If anything, I think that the writers thought it would be funny to name Tieria Erde the thing he doesn’t like; Earth. While he learns to love humanity and finds a place for the planet in his heart, it happens much later in the story. Therefore, one “Earth” in his name could refer to how he saw the planet in the beginning. While the other one could refer to how the world changed after his own spiritual awakening.
