Today, I will be kicking off a new chain of lists, focusing on the many great quotes in Jujutsu Kaisen. Whether there are 5 good quotes or 20, I will list all of the best quotes in every single episode in Jujutsu Kaisen. While it might take some time to complete, itâs something that Iâm sure many of you will love, or so I hope. With that being said, I give to you the 18 best quotes of Jujutsu Kaisen: Episode 1!
âSo which one are you right now?â â Gojo Satoru

This quote is the first thing we hear in Jujutsu Kaisen. What a macabre way to welcome us into a new world, isnât it? Not much is said. Very little is explained. But what makes it so interesting is what exactly Gojo is referring to? After all, we donât know about Sukuna⊠yet. In turn, it sets the stage for a mighty reveal later in the episode, and thus the quote comes full circle.
What truly makes this quote stand out is how Gojo is sitting and smiling at Yuji. It feels like heâs utterly relaxed when asking him âwhich oneâ he is⊠and thatâs quite intimidating. Considering that Yuji looks bruised, drowzy and is tied to a stool, youâd expect Gojo to be more serious. But as we find out, our white-haired, blue-eyed, devil has a hard time keeping a straight face.
âItâs been decided that youâll be secretly executed.â â Gojo Satoru

Jujutsu Kaisen starts with the conversation between Gojo and Yuji, but Episode 1 is actually a flashback to what happened before the two of them met. In turn, weâre not aware as to why a young boy should be executed. It makes for a very impactful moment, making us ask several questions. Like, why should he die? What did he do? Who is he? But when we watch Episode 1 and see Yuji eat Sukunaâs finger, and for a moment turn into the curse, everything finally starts to make sense. Itâs not about who Yuji is, but what he became the moment he ate the finger; he became one with Sukuna. In turn, this quote becomes better with time.
âTheyâre probably tall tales, but I heard he beat all stages of Ninja Warrior, and that heâs the reincarnation of Mirko Cro Cop.â â Takeshi Iguchi

Takeshi is a true friend, whoâs making Yuji sound like Superman! After all, heâs a Ninja Warrior champion, and the reincarnation of the head-kick machine Mirko Cro Cop! Right Leg Hospital, Left Leg Cemetery, right? Well, as a lifelong MMA enthusiast, I was blown away by hearing this. Itâs just an awesome way of making Yuji come across like a world beater, while never showing any signs of actually being one! But thatâs what friends are for, right? To big you up and make you seem like youâre better than you actually are! Oh, Takeshi, youâre wonderful for that!
This quote, in its entirety, is hard to digest. What on earth is Takeshi even referring to? Well, let me firstly inform you that âtall talesâ can or can not be true. So heâs just warning us that some of what he will say, might in fact be rumors or hearsay. In the following lines, he refers to Ninja Warrior, saying that Yuji âbeat all stagesâ. If that would be true, it means that heâs very athletic. He then says that Yuji is the âreincarnation of Mirkoâ, meaning that heâs one helluva fighter! In turn, painting a very complimentary, yet somewhat violent, picture of his friend, Yuji Itadori.
âYou donât have to do anything! You can be a ghost member! Weâre the occult club, after all!â â Setsuko Sasaki

When youâre in an Occult Club, you chase ghosts and talk about the macabre side of life, right? So the question is, what would you do if one of the members breaks the shot put world record with a pitcherâs throw!? He did it in-front of you. Obviously, you would feel deflated, right? Itâs so-long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goood byeeeee! đ” Sorry for singing, but in all honesty, it makes sense for anyone to feel a bit sad. It might be an end of an era. Itâs exactly what Sasaki thought to herself when she saw that throw. Instead of asking Yuji if he wants to stay in their Occult Club, she offered him to be a âghost memberâ. Itâs just so cute, isnât it? Sheâs saying that you can be a member, and never have to join us if you donât want to, but at least then weâll still be able to maintain our âclubâ status. 3 members are needed for the club, you see? Thus, Itâs a heartwarming quote!
âGrandpa, could you stop trying to act all cool before you die?â â Yuji Itadori

When Yujiâs grandfather, Wasuke Itadori, tries to tell him something about his parents, he puts a stop to his sentence by saying the quote above. Itâs simply a way to stop him from talking on a sensitive subject, as Yuji grew up without his parents. In turn, heâd rather not speak of them. But why? Wouldnât Yuji want to know more about his parents? Well, it all depends on how Yuji wants to deal with it. Perhaps he knows that itâll turn into a negative conversation, and is just trying to avoid a conflict with his constantly angry grandpa? Nevertheless, itâs obvious that he doesnât want to discuss his parents.
At a quick glance, youâd think that Yuji was being disrespectful towards his grandpa, right? But thatâs not the case. If anything, he was showing some frustration towards his grandpaâs hard exterior and constant angry behavior. It was a quote said in response to the way he had been acting over the course of a longer period of time, not just what weâre shown on the screen in Episode 1. In turn, Yuji wanted his grandpa to âstop trying to act all coolâ, as he knew that he was just putting on a facade; an act. Inside, Wasuke was most likely fearful of passing away, and to hide it, he just acted tough and more âinterestingâ than he would otherwise. In turn, Yuji is saying that his grandpa is good just the way he is, and he shouldnât change before he dies. Itâs quite beautiful if you think about it.
âEvery man wants to go out in style, you know!â â Grandpa Itadori

Every person wants to go out in their own image, and not the one of others. Itâs a complex way of saying that Wasuke Itadori wants to die in his own way, whether itâs good or bad. Whatever makes his journey towards the other side easier is what actually matters, isnât it? After all, heâs the one that is on his deathbed, and not Yuji. Therefore, I really like Wasuke saying that. While itâs still a part of his act of âbeing fineâ, heâs still saying that a man wants to die his own way. In turn, heâs telling Yuji to stop saying that he shouldnât do this or that. He wants to go whatever way makes him most comfortable, and this quote embodies that well.
âQuit snapping over everything. You can just be yourself.â

Just a few quotes back, I said âYuji is saying that his grandpa is good just the way he is, and he shouldnât change before he dies.â Iâm a weirdo for quoting myself in my own text! Silly Me! But the point remains, as Yuji wants his grandpa to be himself. In fact, heâs aware that he might be gone soon. So his angry demeanor and tough guy personality is merely an act to protect Yujiâs feelings, so that he doesnât feel too sad when he passes away. Itâs the same for us humans as it is for many animals, you know? We distance ourselves from our loved ones when we know that our time might come, just to shelter them from the awful grief that awaits them.
âYuji. Youâre a strong kid, so help others. Even if itâs only those closest to you, just save the people you can. Itâs okay if you lose your way, and donât worry about whether theyâll thank you or not. Just save as many people as you can, even if itâs only one. When you die, you should be surrounded by people. Donât end up like me.â â Wasuke Itadori

Wasuke Itadori has a small role in Jujutsu Kaisen, but the impact of his heartfelt final words is vital to Yujiâs behavioral change and personal growth. But itâs not because weâre dealing with a loving quite, itâs that these words hold wisdom. His final words revolve around his grandson helping people. Whether he loses his way or not, even if the people he saves donât thank him, he should âhelp othersâ. Simply put, heâs telling his grandson to be a good human being, and be selfless, and die with good people around him.
This quote could be a self-reflection one, couldnât it? My theory is that Wasuke is telling Yuji to be the polar opposite to the way he has been his entire life. Wasuke mightâve been a very sour and selfish individual, who didnât help others when he could. Now, on his deathbed, he wishes that he did things differently. Right before his death, he pours his heart out, telling Yuji to be a better person than he ever was, come hell or high water. In turn, itâs a quote about experience teaching Wasuke a valuable lesson of how to live your life. Maybe if Wasuke wouldâve helped more people in his life, he wouldnât have been alone with his grandson when he passed away.
âThis is my first time dealing with something like this, so it doesnât feel real yet.â â Yuji Itadori

Hearing Yuji say these words, as he deals with the loss of his grandfather, is gut-wrenching. Itâs such a natural reaction if youâve never dealt with death before. Finding a way to handle grief is extremely difficult and very painful, so his words ring very honest and true. While the quote is not that special in essence, itâs real and truthful, which is something I can appreciate. Thus, I think itâs one of the best quotes of Jujutsu Kaisen: Episode 1.
âLarge pools of negative energy form especially easily in schools, hospitals, and so on. Hardship, regret, shame⊠The negative emotions of manking become the source of curses.â â Megumi Fushiguro

When Megumi Fushiguro crosses paths with Yuji Itadori in the hospital, he tells him about the âcursesâ; what they are, how they grow and where to find them. Itâs simplistic in essence, but well-explains the ânegative energyâ and how it transforms into âcursesâ. In places like schools and hospitals, thereâs a lot of hardships, regret and shame. In addition, thereâs pain, suffering, jealousy and hatred. These emotions, and many more, contribute to the curse and itâs power. Therefore, Megumiâs simple explanation, gives room for interpretation, while explaining what âcursesâ are in a direct way.
âWhat am I so afraid of? Thatâs right. I can sense death all the way out here. Iâm afraid of dying. Was I afraid of it then? It didnât feel like I was, though. I didnât cry because I was scared. I was just a little sad. But my grandpaâs death and the death Iâm facing now⊠How are they any different?â â Yuji Itadori

Following the death of his grandfather, Yuji was thrown into a whirlwind of riveting emotions and perplexing thoughts. Whatâs right and wrong? How should I determine a âproper deathâ? Why am I afraid? Was I always afraid of death? I could go on and on, but Iâm sure you get the picture! Weâre talking about a situation that made Yuji question himself and his feelings, and itâs a truly intriguing sight to see. Him knowing that his friends are in the school and that they might be killed gives Yuji a reason to think whatâs actually important to him, and whether or not heâs willing to risk it all for others.
What makes this quote stand out is how Yuji asks himself how his âgrandpaâs death and the deathâ heâs âfacing nowâ are any different? Well, one death was a peaceful one, after a long life, and the other death may come painfully, prematurely, at the hands of a terrifying curse. But somehow Yuji is questioning, âhow are they any different? This proves that Yuji doesnât think that thereâs a difference between dying a good death or a bad death, at least not before hearing his grandfatherâs last words. Itâs blatantly obvious, and makes perfect sense, doesnât it? After all, Yuji hasnât dealt with death prior to the passing of his grandpa, so these feelings are a result of a brand new experience. Itâs just really interesting to see how his brain works.
âHe was short-tempered and stubborn. No one but me ever paid him a visit. âDonât end up like me,â huh? Thatâs true.â â Yuji Itadori

This quote isnât special, but itâs honestly very interesting to hear Yujiâs thoughts about his late grandfather, and his final words. Itâs like his having an inner talk with himself. Considering that heâs just stating the obvious, about his grandpa being âshort-tempered and stubbornâ, itâs not like his saying anything obvious. But what is surprising is that Yuji was the only person to ever pay him a visit. It gives us another bit of information about Wasuke, and how he wasnât a good person. Well, maybe he was, but we donât know that. All we can say is that based on the info we have, Yujiâs grandfather wasnât exactly a popular person.
âI think you had a proper death, grandpa! But⊠THIS death⊠is wrong!â â Yuji Itadori

What is a âproper deathâ? Who decides whatâs the right way or the wrong way to die? Is that even a question worth asking and answering? Well, Yuji is saying this because his grandfather, Wasuke, felt like his death wasnât âproperâ, as he died alone, without loved ones surrounding him. Heâs only visitor was his grandson, Yuji. It was an âimproper deathâ, according to Wasuke. So, with this, Yuji is saying that he disagrees with this perspective. Yuji thinks that his grandpa had a âproper deathâ, as he died of old age, and lived a long life. He died the âright wayâ. But I wonder, whatâs the âwrong wayâ to die? Well, according to Yuji, getting murdered by a curse in a school is precisely that: an improper death.
âThere is a way to save everyone! I just need some cursed energy, right, Fushiguro?â â Yuji Itadori

Thatâs EXACTLY was a lead character in an anime would say, and he said it! #LoveIt! Like, do I even need to break it down? Just like most anime heroes, heâs saying that if thereâs a way to save everyone, he will do so, even if it means possibly dying in the process. Itâs a great trope. Not only that, but it also makes sense, as Yuji doesnât want anyone to die, as he himself does not know how to deal with it. Itâs as much about him as it is about the people heâs saving. In turn, he is doing whatâs right for him, but also for others, in the same breath.
âThe light feels best in the flesh!â â Ryomen Sukuna

To hear Ryomen Sukuna come to life and say this line, it was honestly quote perplexing. Like, I mean, how does he know how the light feels without flesh? In this question lies the brilliance of the quote, as none of us know the anwer to the question. In turn, he could be refering to his finger, that was exposed to the moonlight before Yuji ate it. However, Sukuna could be saying that he feels things even when heâs dead, almost as a spirit. While Iâm not sure which is wrong or right, itâs very complex in essense, which is why I had to include it on the list.
âWhere are the people? The women?! What a wonderful era to be in. Women and children are crawling everywhere like maggots. Marvelous! Itâll be a massacre! Hahahaha!â â Ryomen Sukuna

Sukuna gives us a proper taste of who he is with this quote, doesnât he? From his awfully scary voice and excited expression, he comes across as a horror movie villain ready to pain the town red. Itâs a truly horrifying quote, as Sukuna refers to women and children as âmaggotsâ, and he says that they are âcrawling everywhereâ. What, does he want to squash them like maggots? Is he saying that he finds women and children to be below him? Well, considering that he didnât mention men, itâs highly likely that he has a twisted view on the value of women and children. While it might be hard to digest, itâs rather fitting of a villain.
âWhat do you think youâre doing with my body? Give it back.â â Yuji Itadori

It was at this moment that Sukuna knew he has Fâd up. It wasnât going to be this easy to come back to life, and itâs something he had to learn first hand. However, I doubt he was ready to be eaten by someone like Yuji Itadori, whoâs genuinelly a good-hearted human being. Therefore, he was caught off-guard when Yuji grabbed his own face, asking Ryomen Sukuna was he was doing with his body? Well, it seems like the King of Curses wasnât ready for this loud-mouth young man to put him in his place, huh? And you know what, I absolutely love it! Everything from the word selection to the delivery is perfect.
âYouâre no longer human. Under Jujutsu regulations, Itadori Yuji, I will exorcise you as a curse!â â Megumi Fushiguro

Iâm going to finish off this list with Megumi Fushiguroâs final words to Yuji Itadori. Itâs a superb way to wrap up the episode, leaving us yearning for more, isnât it? But what makes it special is not simply the structure or line delivery of the quote, but how shocking it is to hear after Yuji took control of his body again. I didnât think that it would end this way, but it did, and the last thing we see is how Megumi is getting ready to âexorciseâ Yuji as a âcurseâ. Itâs honestly a great moment, with a quote that finishes off the first episode really well.
Itâs time to wrap up this list. I worked really hard on it, so I hope you enjoyed it. This were the 18 best quotes of Jujutsu Kaisen: Episode 1!
