John Singleton crafted 2 Fast 2 Furious with meticulous attention to detail. It’s all about the lil’ things, like how Tej always wins, irregardless of what he’s doing, and how Roman tries to steal Verone’s cigar cutter twice. It’s things like these that add to a film’s replay value, and make it a bit more engaging, doesn’t it? So how about we look back at 2 Fast 2 Furious and see what are some of the small details you might’ve overlooked during your viewing? Here are the 7 things you might’ve missed in 2 Fast 2 Furious!

Tej Never Loses In Anything. He Always Wins. #BornWinner.

Believe it or not, Tej actually never loses in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Whether he’s betting money on jetski races or playing cards, he always seems to come out on top! While it’s hard to say if this was an intentional decision, it definitely sold Tej’s character as being the “man to know” in Miami. Thus, I believe it was intentional, but something that you’ll easily miss if you’re not paying attention.

Now you’re wondering how exactly did Tej always win? Firstly, he won some money by calling Brian over for the opening race. When the Skyline crossed the finish line first, and Brian won, he gave some money to Tej. Secondly, after we see Brian introduce Roman Pearce to Tej, it’s shown that the “man to know in Miami” just won a bet on a jetski race. Thirdly, we see Tej win a game of poker with a royal flush, when playing against Suki and Jimmy. Last but not least, we see him win in his love life, as he gets the girl he hits on during the opening race; Suki. So there you have the summary of how Tej always won in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

During the Opening Race, Suki Yells Out Ludacris’ Song Title “Move B***h” to Orange Julius.

This is one of the most obvious things in the whole movie, but during the first race of 2 Fast 2 Furious, Suki says “Move B***h” to Orange Julius, who’s driving in-front of him. While it’s an expected thing to say when someone is stopping you from passing them by on the road, it has a double meaning. The thing is that when Suki says it, she’s saying that Orange Julius needs to move out of the way, so she can pass him in the race. But “Move B***h” is also the title of Ludacris‘ song from 2002. Best of all, Ludacris plays Tej, so it’s actually a funny thing that’s easy to miss, but fun to catch.

After Brian O’Conner Disses Agent Dunn’s Car Knowledge, the Agent Wears “Supreme Motor Oil” T-Shirt.

One of the most memorable moments of 2 Fast 2 Furious comes when Brian asks Agent Dunn about which motor is better for his Skyline; the Gallo 12 or the Gallo 24? But it’s a question to showcase how little Agent Dunn knows about vehicle, as Gallo isn’t the name of a motor making company. It’s the name of a pizza place. It’s right there on his cup. While Agent Dunn took it well, later on we see him wearing a T-Shirt featuring a car, with the text: “Supreme Motor Oil”. I guess it’s safe to say that he took what Brian said to heart and tried to show more interest in cars. Well, a shirt isn’t a bad way to start. Let’s just hope that he did some homework as well.

Roman Tries to Steal Verone’s Cigar Cutter 2 Times.

Tyrese returning the cigar cutter while Brian looks at him from a distance.

The first time Roman Pearce tries to steal Verone’s cutter is when they talk about the job after delivering the “package”. However, Verone quickly notices that Roman took something from his pocket when he touched him. He warns him and tells him to give his cigar cutter back. So, that was the first time it happened, but when was the second time? It was in the club after we see Brian and Roman meet up with Verone. In that lounge area we see Roman and Verone talk about their problem with authority. Following that conversation, Verone and the others leave the area to torture the dirty cop. Right before they leave, we see Roman reach for the cutter once again, and just like before, Verone notices and says “hey, hey… come on”.

While this is obviously not that interesting, as we’re talking about a cigar cutter, it’s important to understand how these small things make characters feel the same from scene to scene. It’s not like Roman suddenly stopped caring about stealing stuff, just because Verone caught him. Simply put, subtle things like this show the red thread of the character, and I appreciate it.

Peter Pan Crows Can Be Heard Prior to the Car Scramble.

If you’re a fan of Peter Pan, you instantly recognize the rooster-like crow before the infamous car scramble in 2 Fast 2 Furious. In fact, it’s pretty iconic. I guess you could say that it’s a small hidden homage to Peter Pan. While I’m not sure it was intentionally, it sure seems like it, does it not? Considering that Peter Pan’s crows are easily recognizable, and often performed just a moment before something exciting is about to happen, it just naturally fits the moment. Thus, I am confident in saying that John Singleton included this nod to Peter Pan.

Tej & Suki Match the Cars They Drove to the Car Scramble.

Would you believe me if I said that Tej and Suki matched the cars they drove to the awesome car scramble? While there’s no real proof, it’s very likely that Tej and Suki drove the Dodge and Camaro, that Brian and Roman won, to the huge parking lot. I mean, who else would drive the cars there, if not them? So, I’m talking about Tej matching the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T and Suki (somewhat) matching the 1969 Yenko Camaro SYC.

Let’s start off with Tej, shall we? When he is stopped in the bugged EVO, he steps out of the car wearing an orange shirt with a black stripe running across it. Is that a coincidence that one of the cars Brian and Roman won is orange with a black stripe? I doubt that, simply because it’s a John Singleton film, and he’s known for not explaining things. He shows you, he doesn’t tell you. Thus, I believe that Tej drove the Dodge to the car scramble and wore clothes to match it.

When Suki steps out of the Eclipse, the first thing we see are her feet, and she’s wearing knee-high white boots. So, how exactly does this match the Camaro? Well, the vehicle has 2 white stripes on the hood. Similarly to Tej and Dodge, we see Suki wearing something referring to the car she drove to the car scramble. And while it might simply be a theory, I believe that John Singleton did this intentionally.

Monica Doesn’t React to Roman Saying That She’s “Sleeping With The Enemy”, But Doesn’t Forget It.

Tyrese smiling to Eva Mendes and shakes her hand in pain.

At first glance, this doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, right? Who cares if Monica didn’t react to Roman questioning which side she’s on by saying “you sure are cozy in this big ol’ mansion. Sleeping with the enemy.” While most people would’ve lashed out or given an angry look, we don’t see any of that from Monica Fuentes. If anything, she acts completely unbothered, and even gives a little wave to Verone who’s approaching the dinner table by the pool. But why is this an important moment? It shows just how composed she is as an undercover agent. She didn’t even have a reaction to what Roman said.

At the end of the movie, Monica says the following to Roman Pearce: “Do you trust me now?” This is followed up by a rough handshake; with Roman’s right arm in a sling. This shows us that Monica didn’t take well to Roman questioning her loyalty. Thus, she remembered what he had said to her. She just didn’t show emotion in that particular moment. Therefore, this little situation comes full circle at the end.

Surely, there are more than 7 things you might’ve missed in 2 Fast 2 Furious. But I hope that what I’ve mentioned in this piece gave you some new information. Maybe you learned some things about 2 Fast 2 Furious you didn’t know before? If you did, then it’s great. If not, then I hope you catch more of these “easter eggs” and small interesting things yourself!
