Studio MAPPA is working on the Kakegurui spin-off, titled Kakegurui Twin. The first visual (below) was released, together with an official website. It’s a Netflix series, with studio MAPPA creating the show, set to premiere in 2022.
It’s about time we got another Kakegurui anime, isn’t it? Considering the success of Kakegurui (2017) and Kakegurui x x (2019), it makes me happy to write about this upcoming spin-off. After all, Kakegurui Twin centers around Mary Saotome. A character that appears in both TV anime mentioned above. But now, it’s different. It’s Mary Saotome’s turn to be the center of attention in MAPPA-created Kakegurui Twin ONA!
Minami Tanaka will reprise her rolse as Mary Saotome. This comes as no surprise, as Mary Saotome is arguably Minami Tanaka’s biggest voice acting role. Thus, it’s great to see her return, as I believe Kakegurui Twin will open plenty of new doors for Minami Tanaka. But if you’re unfamiliar with her work, he are some roles she is also known for: Usagi Tsukishita, Lily Hoshikawa and Nitocris. Plus, Minami has performed several anime theme songs as well, like Caligula and Hitoribocchi.
Homura Kawamoto and Tooru Naomura‘s Kakegurui manga began serialization on March 22, 2014. Merely 1 year later, Homura Kawamoto teams with Katsura Saiki to launch the spin-off, titled Kakegurui Twin. It’s still ongoing.
